COMMITMENT TO THE
ENVIRONMENT

More than a decade ago, at Asuncion Klinika we decided that out of respect for the planet and our fundamental mission, to take care of people's health, we had to make the environmental variable a central axis of our daily work.

How did we achieve this?

  • Inclusion of tips in the Patient's Manual to facilitate more efficient consumption.

  • Low-consumption flush toilets.

  • New, more efficient kitchen equipment.

  • Staff awareness campaigns.

In 2003, we launched the Paperless Hospital project, which involved transferring all medical records from paper to digital format. At that time, we were one of the one of the first hospitals in the country that started to work with all the healthcare information it generated in digital format.

How did we achieve this?

  • Analysis of the plastic containers that were generated and deposited in the 'remainder'.

  • Improvements in the segregation and collection of organic waste in the kitchen.

  • Installation of an intelligent dispenser-cabinet for medicine waste.

  • Reducing oil consumption with the installation of a cooking robot.

-10%

associated with mobility

How did we achieve this?

  • Biomass boiler: Before its installation, our consumption was 120,000 liters of diesel per year.

  • Replacement of two conventional vehicles
with two hybrid vehicles with lower GHG emissions.

  • By reducing electricity consumption throughout the hospital, we have reduced C02 emissions.

WALKING TOWARDS A SELF-SUSTAINABLE HOSPITAL

At Asuncion Klinika, we are committed to environmental protection and sustainable development. Since our birth in 1967, we have worked tirelessly to provide high quality healthcare services while minimizing our environmental impact. Our Environmental Policy reflects this commitment and our actions to achieve a more sustainable future.

We are aware of the environmental impact of our activity and therefore for more than a decade we have been implementing good environmental practices and incorporating the best technologies with the aim of having a sustainable development of our activity and moving towards efficiency in our consumption and minimizing our environmental impact.

In the future, we want to continue working on the environmental variable and get as close as possible to the concept of a self-sustainable hospital. In the short term, we are already working along these three lines:

  • The achievement of the European EMAS certificate, with which we want to put our environmental management at Asunción Klinika on a par with that of large public and private hospitals nationwide.

  • Growth in telemedicine, which will allow us to extend our healthcare services to a greater number of people, while reducing the impact of mobility. We will soon be launching teleconsultation, telerehabilitation and dermatological diagnosis applications.

  • Installation of a photovoltaic package with which we expect to generate 25% of the electricity we use: specifically, 300k kwH/year.
