At Asunción Klinika we have a solid network of centres distributed throughout Gipuzkoa, which includes a hospital, three outpatient centres and a multi-specialist consulting room at the Arrasate Medical Centre (Donostia).

Klinika assumption serves as regional hospital of Tolosaldea thanks to the concert signed with the Department of Health of the Basque Government. By virtue of this, we rigorously and successfully comply with all the care conditions to which said agreement requires us. Our quality and activity indicators are at the same level as any other regional hospital in the Basque public network and above many private hospitals in the State, as certified by the annual audits carried out by the department. of the Basque Government and other external entities such as TÜV Rheinald , a company approved for the granting of ISO certification, which we have been renewing continuously since 2008 for the entire healthcare offer.

Our medical staff is made up of more than 90 specialist doctors who can carry out their work with all the guarantees and in compliance with current legislation and the framework of the agreement signed between Asuncion Klinika and the Basque Government. Around 10% of these physicians are non-community specialists who are in the process of homolocating their degree with state administrative standards. It is a purely administrative procedure that does not disqualify them from exercising their profession with all the necessary legal and assistance guarantees.

As set out in the 2018-2021 agreement, the annual salary increase for Inviza SA staff in 2019 was 2.4% while the CPI reached only 1.18% in 2018. In addition, the working and remuneration conditions of our specialists are superior to any private state agreement.

The company that has owned Asunción Klinika for 25 years is Inviza SA Dr. Jesús Gómez Montoya took over the management of Asunción Klinika in 1994, at a time when the center was in a bankruptcy situation and with an environment of high conflict labor. With the implementation of a viability plan that was previously presented to the Ministry of Health, the family that owns the center and the unions present in the Works Council, the situation was reversed in three years and, since then, the center It has lived through a period of sustained growth at all levels, which continues to this day. These are some of the figures for the last 25 years:

  • The number of people working in Asunción Klinika in 1994 was 110 people , going down in 1999 to 145, reaching the figure of 340 today.

  • The turnover of the center has grown from 7,021,372 in 1994 to € 23.517.697,62 € in 2019, including in these figures billing insurance companies and mutual assistance.

  • Of this amount to salaries and salaries in 2019 € 17,500,520 have been dedicated, that is, 74.5% of the turnover ; compared to € 4,578,060 in 1999, which represents an increase in the last 20 years of almost 400% for human resources.

  • The number of doctors is 93 compared to the 45 who worked at the hospital 25 years ago and the staff has almost tripled. This has its evident correlation in the volume of activity, which in the last year (2018) released the following figures:

    • 307,925 medical acts

    • 5,084 admissions

    • 85,620 consultations

    • 3,629 surgeries

    • 16,968 emergencies

Asunción Klinika's Training and Research area tries to give the Clinic staff the best tools so that they can carry out their work in the best possible way. It is made up of the Training and Research Commissions and the Assumptio Proinnova Foundation. Their functions are:

  • Collect and identify the training concerns of the staff

  • Based on them and the strategic needs of the center, design the strategic lines that channel the training and research programs

  • Respond to these needs and concerns with the design of an annual training plan, which includes internal and external training (attendance at courses, congresses, conferences, masters, etc.)

  • Give financial and organizational help for the development of training projects and researchers

Training Plan 2019

Asunción Klinika's 2019 Training plan had a total cost of € 78,615.91. Of these, € 63,228.28 went to regulated internal training and € 15,387.63 to direct subsidies from the company for the completion of master's degrees, expert courses and attendance at conferences and seminars. In total, the company allocated € 44,724.63 to training its staff , which includes the cost of working hours dedicated to training, plus direct teaching costs (enrollment, transfers and accommodation). Fundae, the State Foundation for Employment Training, contributed the remaining € 33,891.28.

Regarding the people who benefited from said plan, the internal training sessions, carried out in Asunción Klinika itself and regulated through Fundae , had a total of 302 attendees, 80% of them women and 20% men; and they totaled 2725 hours. Among the face-to-face courses that more attendees gathered, those on CPR (39 people), Inhaler Management (25 people) and High Flow Oxygen Therapy and BIBAP (23 people) stand out. Basic office automation, research tools, LOPD or Patient Care, were other topics that were addressed in the 2019 training plan.

Masters, Courses and Congresses

The 2019 training plan also included direct subsidies to staff for courses, masters and attendance at conferences. Up to 39 people benefited from this aid, yielding a balance of € 15,387.63 in direct aid for the payment of tuition, transfers and accommodation. Some of the topics for which a grant was requested were a course on Laparoscopic Anastomosis for the Surgery service, an online course on Health Products for the Pharmacy service, or an Expert course in Intravenous Therapy for the Operating Room Nursing team, among others.

Finally, the training plan also included the holding of twelve clinical sessions, Cafés Clínicos , throughout the year. The clinical sessions are held twice a month and are meetings between healthcare personnel with the aim of sharing knowledge and creating synergies between services. Among the topics addressed were imminent claudication, influenza, botryomycosis or self-control in chronic anticoagulation.
